Here is the alternate route for Saturday's long course event. There is the possibility of strong SW winds. The race will then start at the Darlings Island Bridge proceed into Darlings Lake and go downwind. Entering the river again and finishing at the Hampton Bridge.
I will advise everyone on Friday of which course we will use. |
Mark your calendars kids the 2017 Bridge2Bridge Paddle will take place the weekend of June 17th. Long Course Race July 15, 2017 1000pm.
Event sign up is here For those that have a competitive fire in their bellies the 13km course will be a flat out race beginning at the Hampton Bridge, down the meandering Kennebecasis River, before branching off on to the Hammond River to finish under the Darling Island Covered Bridge. Those of you that want to take it easy, we have a touring division. Take your time, enjoy the scenery, and make some new friends. What to bring?? Well you'll need a board, and a paddle for sure. Leash and PFD are mandatory. Depending on water and air temp, neoprene booties, and wetsuits maybe in order. I'll be handing out bottled water at the start and finish, but suggest a Camelback hydration system. ***CAUTION*** Please know your limits. If your a beginner or have never paddled before this is NOT the event for you. For some people this may take more than 2 hours to finish depending on wind and weather conditions. YOU are responsible for yourself. We will be keeping track of participants and there will be someone sweeping the course for stragglers. There will be a small entry fee to help me cover costs, that will get you a cool bumper sticker, and I'm looking at possibly getting t-shirts made for the event. Jimmy Lewis Canada has stepped in as a sponsor, and have kindly donated a carbon paddle (valued at $549) and some sweet JL swag for the event. The paddle will be raffled off at the reception afterwards so everyone has a chance to win it. Long Course 13km Event - Race day registration and parking will be at the Darlings Island Bridge (use 53-111 Darling Island Road for GPS directions) Registrations starts at 9:00am, with shuttle service for paddlers and boards to start in Hampton. Last shuttle leaves at 9:35am. Cheers |
